Blessings to the Blest

The oldest and youngest

Together at the Temple--a good place to be
Most of the tulips have disappeared from Temple Square.  We miss their splendor, but no doubt, the beds will soon be popping with flowers of a different variety.  We noticed on our walk this morning up Cedar Creek Canyon that the creek is running very high.  The snow on the high mountain peaks is gradually receding.
The warmer weather has brought more “business” to the Library, which is the opposite of what I would expect.  I wish we could re-tract the roof or pull the computers outside.  Besides helping guests, I have also been reviewing missionary training lessons and Elder Challis has been helping our zone leader with scheduling.  The decision to open the Library on Monday evenings and Sunday afternoons, beginning the first of June, has been made.  But we are still not sure of full-time missionary involvement in those extended hours.
Wednesday, the Family History Department hosted a “Missionary Appreciation Evening” with Jenny Oaks Baker and children in the Tabernacle.  Amazing talent!  We are spoiled in this mission.
This morning, as I listened to the opening strains of “Gently Raise the Sacred Strain” at the beginning of the choir broadcast, I thought of the words, “His blessings to the blest.”    We are certainly “the blest,” blessed to have the gospel of Jesus Christ and to be members of His Church.  No matter how many times, I attend the broadcast, I think I will always have goose bumps and tears.
We were concerned to learn on Friday morning that Jaynie’s little Phillip (6 weeks old) had a seizure on Thursday night.  Very scary and unsettling.  I do not like having them so far from us.  (They are in Anchorage for the summer.)    It was comforting to put their names on the Timpanogas Temple prayer roll when we went early on Saturday.  The words of the ordinances also brought peace.
