Modulation in All Things
Happy surprise to see the Call family. |

Out of the “training zone,” but still in training. Monday, with our assignment to the FHL, we
began working our way through sixteen computer modules specific to serving in
that building. We have learned computer tricks,
patron service, and searches. After
completing each module, we take a quiz on the computer--three incorrect and we
must repeat the lesson. (I hate trick
questions.) When we see the celebratory
confetti on the computer screen, we then set up a “review” with someone who has
already earned a blue lanyard. Ten passed, with six to go. And then…we train specific to the U.S. and
Canada floor.
In the four-day Thanksgiving break,
we had generous helpings of delicious food and time with family and
friends. We heard someone calling our name
as we were walking home on Tuesday. When
we turned to look it was Bishop Call and his family from Olathe First Ward. Happy surprise! We joined
them in the Discovery Zone—and of course, discovered we are related.
Then, Abby Stotts, a friend from
Olathe, came to Bountiful from BYU-I to be with her aunt’s family. She texted us so we made arrangements to meet
her Wednesday evening, enjoying the Eyring exhibit, the lights in City Creek,
and then Chipotle.
Thursday
through Sunday morning we were in Utah Valley.
We got to help at Lindsey’s and Brent’s new home by painting the babies’
room. Moving in this week! We enjoyed family get-togethers all three days
with Elder Challis’ siblings. The
prizes for Turkey Bingo after dinner on Thanksgiving at the Moons’ were amazing. I “gobbled
up” a cute snowman which makes our apartment seem not quite so bereft of Christmas
decorations.
Out on the
street and on Temple Square “it’s beginning to look a lot like Christmas.” Thousands of lights! From our balcony window, we can see eight
trees a- light in red and white. It’s
almost as good as having our own tree inside—almost.
Saturday
afternoon we gathered with family members to “mourn with those who mourn.” My
cousin’s son, unexpectedly passed away.
That brought his parents, Grant and Tessa, and his younger brother,
Mitchell from their home in Virginia, as well as other loved family members
from near and far. It was good to be
with them. So good. Both Grant and Tessa bore powerful witness of the Holy
Ghost as Comforter. I am grateful for
that. Otherwise, how could they bear their
grief. I pray in the days ahead, that he will continue to “blanket” them.
